NatureFest 2011

Runnymede Park

Two new features have been added to NatureFest 2011—a Photo Contest for high school age young people and “The Great Runnymede Race” for middle schoolers. The race is loosely patterned after the popular TV Amazing Race—teams will have to follow directions to various points in Runnymede Park where they will be given a task to complete. At each point, an observer will judge that the task has been successfully completed and will give the team directions to the next task. The first team to complete all tasks successfully will be declared the winner of the grand prize. All participants will receive T-shirts and lanyards.

The Great Runnymede Race Results

There were 4 teams who participated in the middle school "Great Runnymede Race" and "Team Totten" won (completing the four activities in the record-time of 24 minutes). They won a round of golf for their team at Woody's Golf Range on Route 7 (11801 Leesburg Pike) in Herndon. Other teams participating were the "Purple Cows", "Sparkly Tigers", and "Team Christopher", all completing the race in the order listed, all under 45 minutes. A good time was had by all. Much thanks to Carol Hadlock (who was also our 2010 Friends of Runnymede Park Volunteer of the year) who did a great job organizing this race.

Photo Contest Results

Two local high school photographers, Connor and Hannah, submitted beautiful pictures that they took in our Runnymede Park. Connor has three entries shown "Photo Entries by Connor" page. Hannah has two entries shown in the "Photo Entries by Hannah" page.
