Sunday, March 11th, 7pm – 9pm, the Annual Meeting of the Friends of Runnymede Park will be held at the ArtSpace Herndon at 750 Center Street. The meeting is open to all, free, and a great chance to learn a little more about our beautiful park. We’ll have a slide show of photos taken in Runnymede Park by Herndon High photography students during our free wine and cheese reception period starting at 7:00 pm. Following some brief awards and business items, Local avian expert, Carol Hadlock, will tell us about the Ruby-throated hummingbird as a pollinator and the adaptations that plants and birds have made for each other’s needs. Free and Open to all.

Sunday, March 18th, 2pm – 3:30pm, Our next Runnymede Ramble in the Park. Naturalist Peter Munroe will present “Live Fast, Die Young, Leave a Beautiful Memory.” He’ll discuss the life of the early spring wildflowers that grow naturally in the park. Following Peter’s 20 minute presentation, Dave Swan, President of the Friends of Runnymede Park, will do a short walk in the park to see these beautiful flowers along the trails. It’s free and open to all!

Saturday, April 21st, 8am – noon, the 26th Annual Sugarland Run & Runnymede Park Clean-UpWe’ll meet at the main entrance to the park off the Herndon Parkway. Dress for the weather and bring gloves – we’ll have all the rest, including hotdogs and drinks for all who help. Let’s show our pride in Herndon’s natural oasis.

    • Spring Cleanup (March or April each year)
    • NatureFest (Annual Nature Festival, 3rd Sunday in Sept)

    NatureFest is our community Nature Festival held annually on the 3rd Sunday in September. NatureFest is a joint effort with the Town of Herndon Parks and Recreation department and with the assistance of MANY volunteers, in 'Nature Stations' strategically placed throughout Runnymede Park in Herndon, Virginia.
